26 WEEKS...6 DAYS! ~90 more to go!!

Take a look at mommy now! She sure has begun to grow. I am a whopping 1.75 pounds and measure in at approximately 14 inches from head to heel (size of an English hothouse cucumber!) I sure have heard a lot lately, now that the network of nerves in my ears are better developed and more sensitive. I can now hear both mommy and daddy's voice as they chat with each other. What else is new in my development? I'm now inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, giving my lungs their first good workout. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when I'm born and take that first gulp of air-I can't wait!
What have we been up to? We've had some wonderful adventures over the past couple of weeks. After mommy and I returned from Seattle, it was a long week at work, then off to the Fitzgerald family cabin. We enjoyed a long weekend where we had a family reunion, celebrating Grandpa Fitzgerald's 60th birthday! I took my first boat ride on the pontoon and heard my first loon! We sat by the campfire and mommy even shared a fresh roasted smore with me :-) I'm beginning to LOVE chocolate!!! To top the weekend off, I took my first limo ride to my very first concert....NEIL DIAMOND!!! Boy did I love it and danced the entire concert, wiggling mommy's tummy. To top the weekend off...we had a great birthday celebration for Daddy on July 22nd. Mommy and daddy took a detour on the way home from the cabin to Babies R Us, ordering my furniture and bedding! We'll keep you posted with pictures when they arrive! Hope everyone is doing well! :-)

Maddi and Kaiser will have a hard time leaving my toys alone!! I'll have to set them straight!!

My First Binky

Daddy's been trying it out on Mommy.....he says it works wonders!!!!!

Daddy's getting in shape for my arrival.....He'll need LOTS of energy to keep up with me!!

Mommy's Belly 25 weeks...watch out...here I come!

THANK YOU for the Wonderful Baby Shower!!

Picture of Cake and 25 Week Update

Another couple of wonderful busy weeks for me and mommy! Sorry it's taken so long to give an update once again. First of all...I passed my check up with flying colors on July 5th. Mommy and I are gaining weight right on track, and my heart beat is perfect at 150 beats per minute. I am now measuring about 13 1/2 inches and am roughly the size of an average rutabega. I'm starting to get some hair and baby fat to smooth out my wrinkled skin. My brain is also growing quickly now, and my taste buds are continuing to grow. My lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help my air sacs inflate once I hit the outside world (only 15 more weeks....eeeek!) My skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. Enough about my development...lets talk about the excitement last weekend...where do I start? I took my first airplane ride to Seattle, heard the gushing water of Snoqualmie falls, visited the Woodland Park Zoo, and last but not least had a WONDERFUL shower. Mommy is in awe with all of the WONDERFUL gifts we received and can't wait to use them! Mommy was so excited to see all of her family and friends and told me to say THANK YOU to everyone for the fun!!! The cake was especially good and mommy was nice enough to have 2 pieces and share with me ;-)

23 Weeks!

How is everyone doing? It's been an exciting couple of weeks. Boy have I been busy! Believe it or not, at over 11 inches now (and more than a pound) I am actually starting to look like a miniature newborn. My lips, eylids, and eyebrows are more distinct and I started developing tiny tooth buds beneath my gums. My eyes are formed and I have little hairs all over to cover up my body and wrinkles on my skin. Daddy says I probably look like a little monkey, just like mommy :-) My pancreas (apparently what produces my hormones) is developing steadily at this point. My sense of movement is well developed and I can feel mommy sway to music! Oh, I almost forgot to tell you...I'm about the size of a large mango right now! :-) I will definitely be a soccer player and have already been working on my fundamentals. If I keep practicing, mommy and daddy should soon be able to see me squirm under her clothes! My blood vessels are developing in my lungs to prepare for breathing air (only 17 more weeks!) and I can now recognize loud noises like Maddi and Kaiser's bark and the vacuum cleaner-shouldn't even faze me once I'm out of the womb.
How's mommy doing? Other than feeling a little heavy, she's been feeling great and starting to "nest"-apparently that means get everything just perfect for me at home. After some demolition, carpet cleaners, painting, and moving furniture (with help of course)...her and daddy are starting to put together the details of my new room. I hear stenciling takes a LONG time....but mommy and daddy are very excited and its starting to look great! See the pics above!
I have another check up on Thursday, July 3rd....wish me luck! :-) Bye for now!
